Reminder: BUG ride tomorrow
The ride to explore the Maribyrnong River to Brimbank is on tomorrow.
Meeting at 8:45 for a 9am start so don’t forget that daylight savings begins tonight!

Explore the Maribyrnong River to Brimbank Park, then take the Western Ring Road path to Jacana or Gowrie Stations (on the Broadmeadows or Upfield lines) then return to the Zoo by train. Very keen riders could head home via the Merri Creek.
Meeting point will be out the front of Royal Park Train Station.
What to bring – lunch money (or own lunch)
Distance: ~ 56km one way
When: Sunday 5, October 2008
Time: Be there at 8:45 for 9:00am start
Pack some lunch for the day. Please bring some spare tubes for tyres just in case you have a puncture along the track.
The plan is stop at a cafe at Brimbank Park for lunch (They do serve tea/coffee but unsure whether they provide lunch.) We will be riding along some very steep hills.

A friendly reminder to you all that the Moreland BUG ride is on this Sunday (September 14). It would be great to see more faces from the BUG group turn out for this beautiful ride.
We will be riding to Westerfolds Park, Templestowe along the Yarra Trail and possible to Eltham.
Where: Meet at the Fairfield Boathouse near the cafe along the waterfront (the Boathouse is just off Heidelberg Rd near Panther Place, and right on the Yarra River trail bike path).
Date: Sunday 14 September, 2008
Time: 10:45am for a 11:00am start
Distance: 30 km
Please remember to pack some lunch for the day!

Bay ride, Sunday August 17
Don’t forget that there is a ride leaving Flinders St Station (meet at the mosaic at Clocks TAB) at 10:05am on Sunday 17 August.
We will ride to Beacon Cove along the light rail trail then follow the bay past St Kilda. We will stop for lunch along the way then catch the train back when we have had enough.
Email Ross Millward to register interest (we will wait for you if you haven’t turned up).

Brunswick Cycling Club, Fyxomatosis and Knog are proud to present round 6 of the Roller Derby at the … Brunswick Clubrooms, Friday 27th June, starting at 6:30pm. A fun social evening of handicapped roller racing kicking off at 6:30pm. Awesome prize packs to be won – $10 to race, spectators free. All proceeds will be donated to St Mary’s House of Welcome on Brunswick St. Fitzroy, which provides targeted services, including day programs, crisis response, information, referral and social support to marginalised and homeless adults.
This month also sees the introduction of the Chooka Challenge! Ride 4 laps in under a minute on a 96″ gear to add your name to the perpetual Chooka trophy, named after Daniel Ceccini Sr. who held the 4 lap record for several years. Bring your track bike with a 96″ gear (50:14) and minimum crank length 165mm.
The Brunswick clubrooms are located in Roberts Reserve, adjacent to the Brunswick outdoor velodrome, Harrison St. Brunswick (Melways 30 B5).

Docklands art journey ride – Sunday 22 June 2pm
Meet your fellow Moreland cyclists on a cruisy ride through Royal Park and down the Moonee Ponds Creek trail to Docklands. This short ride is on off-road bike paths and should be suitable for all riders and bicycle types, and all are welcome. I expect we’ll stop for a drink then return the same way.
Sunday 22 June
Distance: 15km return
Departing: 2pm (return by 4pm?)
Meet: Royal Park (Zoo) Station, on the grass on the zoo side (ride there or take your bike on the train)

ps. Mark the next ride in your diary: Sunday 13 July from CERES to the Abbotsford convent, departing 10am.
This year’s Ride of Silence
Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.
The Australian Ride of Silence will be held on Saturday 24th May 2008, 10am, starting at Federation Square.

On Sunday May 11 (not Saturday 10th of May as originally advertised!), there is a joint bike ride, through Moreland, being organised by Melbourne BUG and North Melbourne Sustainability Street.
Destination: Fawkner Memorial Park and the Merri Creek trail
Distance: 25 kilometres approximately (shortcut possible)
Meet at North Melbourne Railway Station at 10a.m. Buy a Sunday Saver ticket at the station.
Ride takes in the Capital City trail, Upfield trail, Fawkner Memorial Park, Western Ring Road, Merri Creek, then across to Merlynston Railway Station for a train trip back to North Melbourne.

As a follow-up to the inaugural and highly successful Cyclovia in 2006, Moreland Council is hosting a second Cyclovia.
It will be held on Sunday 13 April 2008, from 8am to 2 pm, on Sydney Road from Bell Street, Coburg to Brunswick Road, Brunswick.
Life to the street! Come and stroll, pedal, shop or relax over coffee and cake on Sydney Road, free from motorised traffic!Enjoy this community space in a new way.
Consider volunteering as a marshal for pedestrian and bicycle traffic to help this event work smoothly.
