On its eighth annual trail through international cities, the Bicycle Film Festival will be rolling into Melbourne and pulling its second round of stunts from Wednesday 19 til Sunday 23 of November 2008. From slick fixed gear gods to spokey-doke adorners, the Bicycle Film Festival brings together Melbourne’s diverse range of bike riders to celebrate man’s beloved mechanical companion. The festival will screen an array of international and local films, and continue its promotion of the bicycle through a side-program of art, music, and fashion festivities.  Set in CBD venues all within a bunny-hop of each other, this year’s festival is certain to see the city blossoming with bicycle love. There will be a group meeting on Swanston Street out the front of the State Library at 8:00am. At 8:10am, the group will ride slowly down Swanston Street to the Melbourne Town Hall, where there will be one minute’s silence.

You are encouraged to leave a flower at the site of the accident (corner Bourke and Swanston) as the gathering makes its way to Town Hall.

Pedestrians are welcome to join the group on the day.

Around Moreland, the following Ride to Work activities will be happening.

The City of Moreland is hosting a breakfast in the Victoria Street Mall, Coburg, from 7:30am - 9:00am.

Commuter Cycles (14 Prentice Street, Brunswick) is offering espresso coffee (with a barista and machine in for the day) fresh fruit, and bacon & egg sandwiches, plus a quick bike tune up if you need it.
When: 7am to 10am
Cost: A gold coin donation, and that you register for Ride To Work Day.

Human Powered Cycles (38 Harrison St, Brunswick East) is offering:

• 8-9am - free intro bike maintenance training
• Free puncture repair all day
• 10% off parts and accessories all day
• 5-6pm - free intro bike maintenance training
• 6-8pm - drinks and pizza with the crew… open to everyone!

Under the constitution, the ordinary business of the Annual General Meeting shall be to:

1. Confirm the minutes of the previous (2007) Annual General Meeting
2. Presentation of financial statements by the Committee, detailing the transactions of the Group in the preceding financial year
3. Elect the next Committee of Management
4. Receive and consider the statement submitted by the Group in accordance with section 30(3) of the Association Incorporation Act (1981), covering details such as income and expenditure in its last financial year and assets and liabilities at the end of its last financial year
5. Enact any other business for which required notice has been given in writing to the Secretary
6. Set membership fees for the following year
7. Appoint an auditor of the financial records for the ensuing year

Elections

Assuming more than one nomination per position, there will be an election for the committee positions, which are:

2. Deputy Convenor
3. Secretary

I would strongly encourage you to consider helping the BUG by being on the committee. It requires only a small amount of time but has a significant impact on the effectiveness of the group.

Nominations of candidates for election as officers of the Group or as ordinary members of the Committee must be:

1. Made in writing, signed by two members of the Group and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (which may be endorsed on the form of nomination); and

Hi All,

Recently I contacted you with notification that improvement works were to be carried out to a section of the Merri Creek shared trail between Rushall Station and High Street bridge during September. Unfortunately these works have been delayed, and will now not take place until mid November. It is expected that the works will take 4 weeks to complete. The delay is due to the need to coordinate with the contractors undertaking the Clifton Rail Duplication Project, who are currently very active in the area, and access to the site is limited by construction vehicle movements.

The adjusted timing of the City of Yarra shared trail works will not impact on the closure requirements and diversions in place for the Clifton Rail Duplication project.

The plan is stop at a cafe at Brimbank Park for lunch (They do serve tea/coffee but unsure whether they provide lunch.) We will be riding along some very steep hills.

Where: Meet at the Fairfield Boathouse near the cafe along the waterfront (the Boathouse is just off Heidelberg Rd near Panther Place, and right on the Yarra River trail bike path).

There have been some works on two parts of the trail recently, removing dog legs.

We meet in the meeting room at the back of the RSL which you can enter through the gate in O’Hea St.

Food and drink is available and can be consumed in the meeting room.
